Diarrhea aka cirit

this time it's a bit ... er.. smelly?

Diarrhea is a situation where, you or maybe your family members, friends, mates, have to pass stool more frequent than their usuals. (yup, more frequent.)  - but hold first. Baby, especially newborns, or maybe some people, do pass stool about up to 3-5 times per day!

I'm not finish actually - it's also changes in the stool form (it'll be more water than solid) & even color (it may be black, maroon, worse, some red!).

just a pic of toilet, ha,ha, not associated with the topic
Some prefer to self treat - this is where the anti diarrhea 'on-the-counter' enters in -->
my place - from black bitter tea to 'chi-kit' teck aun traditional tabs,

When it comes to diarrhea in kids, it is advisable to bring them to visit nearest docs or nurses or even medical attendance. What i experienced in my short life time of work, they usually don't start kids on antidiarrhea medicines. Why???
"Kids digestion system undergoes diarrhea as a defense mechanism to brush out the microbs or any other possible irritating things in them. Most of the antidiarrheal use in adults works by stopping the washing out process, & if it is used in children, the diarrhea might stop. But the child still loosing out water. IT was never being absorb into the body & just stack in the digestion system, causing bloating in some cases."

What docs/nurses/medical attendants do first is ask on how, when, why, it happen - yeah, you want your kids to get their medicine, not for interview, i understand. They need these information because 80% succes of medication comes from the correct info of patient's condition.

Err, let me remind you, when you yourself or any of family members, friends, or even stranger that you help is in not so fit in condition, the medical staff might start straight with setting up the needle in arms/legs & connect with a bag of water (so call Intravenous line fluid resuscitation) - sound terrible huh,? - if they don't do it, the diarrhea might cause your body (or the patient's body) to be more weaker, or for worst, dried out of water that might bring the body to the state of shock (the body become weak, heartbeat become fast but unable to access with touch, drowsy or for child, really irritable that it is not consolable... )

please, don't be scared with what i said - but don't look down on diarrhea itself.

there's a lot of causes for this case, depends on your story..

some have it just exactly after having seafoods

others might have it a week later after another fellow in the school having it

I got a neighbour who's having a soft stool for months - really? =_="

*sleepy mode on*

ok, ok, what to do then? any cure?

DEPENDS

For kids, usually, medical attendances start with oral rehydration salts, & encourage them to drink any drinks -preferable not the carbonated, too super sweet drinks for the time being. (this is the same for teens or adults)
How bout milk? some kids or even adults do get their diarrhea from consuming milk - then, try to stop it.
But as kids need milk for one of their nutrition to grow up, do try alternative milk brand. For a bigger child like in an early kindergarten age, you may try giving milk product as to supply their nutrition need. Some might want to try soy milk-  let me remind that some do tolerate, some don't. The soy milk might help for a short time, but in a long time, for kids especially, it does not give much nutrition as much as usual milk for the child to grow up.

What is this oral... salt thingy?
It's a salt, basically.  (not just an ordinary table salt - it's similar but not same)
Diarrhea let you not only loosing water & stool, but not to forget that stool came from what we eat. - basically, it is just like vomiting - everything goes in & everything comes out, but through the butt. Nothing is stored in the body, No salt & water in the body in a short period may cause, mildest, dehydration, & for worse, comatised.
Kids, especially small youngs one, easier to lost water than in adult,.

wait, what?? ain't kids more smaller size than adult? - no! physically yes, but metabolically, no!

They need more water & salt, & when it comes to diarrhea, they tend to lost more than adult!.

This ORS is easily available in pharmacy or even some clinics or supermarkets. Or, you can make it by yourself - but with a risk it may be too diluted nor too concentrated that it won't help your diarrhea to heal.

Make-yourself-ORS:
Cooled by air boiled water ~ 1 litre + 6 tablespoon sugar + 1/2 teaspoon salt (regular salt).
*please correct me if i'm wrong*

why no antibiotics??
Depend on the cause of the microbs

Mostly, in kids, around baby to school kids, viruses are the main cause that give the waterry, loose, yellow stool
VIRUSES?? Where is it??
It happen. Kids, especially the one about 6 months to 2 years age, they tend to grab on something & put into their mouth, no? - that's one way of the exposure.
Another way, it may be possible, without realising, that the food prepared is not so 'clean' - please don't be like sterilising the food after i said so - what i mean is, just prepared the food by cleaning under running, clean water instead of stagnant water, then, properly cooked them full cooked instead of half cook.
(this do valid for adults diarrhea cases.)

Let me remind you again - depend on the happening of the diarrhea, when the diarrhea sound not only with yellow water stool, but with a specific smell, or even stool change to black or with a red stain, medical staff may start considering antibiotics, depend on what they are aiming to treat for. Do mind to ask them what they are considering, & why as such.
While on antibiotics, as an outpatient or in the ward patient, some may ask for your poo sample to check on bacterial, parasites, or lucky, maybe neither.

Kosan Ibu Ely a.k.a Kosan AsSyifa!

Hah, Kok ayam penyet??? Iyah, ibu kosannya ini sebetulnya punya warung makan, kosannya itu di atasnya warung makan beliau. Enak bukan kalo di kosannya udah punya warung makan? Gak repot sih kalau masalah makanan.. (tinggal sesuaikan selera, kalau gak mau, yah, mangga boleh kok keluar nyari makan a.k.a masakan lain..).
Harganya? Lumayan murah menurut saya – nasi 1 porsi (porsi buruh)+ayam penyet+sayur+tahu1 biji/tempe 1 potong ~Rp 10,000.. OPSSS!!

Run aka Lari

I don't really have any idea at the moment at what to post here.

I'm gonna babble about running..

Running..
  • makes me move fast...
  • but ends up with huff & puff.
    • I realized I need exercise, but I didn't take the initiative to start.
  • makes my heart beats faster to fill up every inch of the body compartment in order to supply enough Oxygen & glucose & cholesterol & white blood cells & bacterias & minerals & vitamins & amino acids &.. (oi, oi, ... -__-)
  • makes my job done a bit faster & slower (because I tripped while running, especially when I'm wearing skirt)
  • i ran at the speed of... *sorry i don't measure it* more than the speed of sloth, but less than the speed of my athlete friends.
  • Running is the faster version of walking (really???)
  • Not only physically, even time does run.
    • It ran so fast I didn't realise I'm in my early 30's already.
    • It ran so fast I did realise that I've got stacks of sins to be ask for forgiveness
    • It ran so slow (huh??)...
  • helps me to stay away from problem, but doesn't help to solve it.
    • yup, I ran away in certain class/activities because I don't like the subject/teacher/student (PLEASE TO KEEP THIS POINT AS A BAD THING TO DO !)
-the end?-

Pain

um.. come to think of it.. it's painful.. ouch!
what would i think about this word..? uncomfortable? not cosy? something cursed? sad? makes my day in shadow or cloudy?

lets see about this fellow:
I was doing the house chores when suddenly, my mum cried, "My goodness, what happen to your foot?? It's bleeding!" I didn't realise there was a piece of glass, stabbed right under my right sole. I couldn't tell it hurt because I didn't felt any - not that I'm trying to be tough, but truthfully, I felt nothing.

Let's see about another fellow:
"This backache killing me, doc," said Mrs A to her physician. "I still can tolerate it at first since it troubles me only while I'm in blues. But these days, the pain even came to me while I'm sleeping, " she continues..

I purposely created these simple story though, & i presume, anyone who read these can made up with a (maybe few, maybe lots) conclusion(s). This is mine..
Eventhough pain at first was labelled as something curseful, but it actually helps a lots. Not only physically protect the body from physical danger, but it does protect mentally.

Mentally?
I bet most people do experienced painful memories. Depends on how they think, painful memories can help them grow, or can destroy their growth.
Easy example for this is the military lifestyle - every morning there'll be a morning inspection (sorry i dunno the military slang for this one), then, every second, if there's a slight mistake, it is not possible to get a kind-a-weird punishment. Those punishments actually to remind them  not to repeat the same mistakes again.

where does pain come from?
technically, it is generated from nerve situated nearby the body part that exposed to threat/danger. The nerve, known as sensoric nerve, send signals to the nearby HQ, known as spinal cord (the one with H shape), by afferent nerve (the one in red line).
Credits for Netter's Atlas of Human Physiology

From the H shape quarters (it is known as the grey matter), the signals then relayed to another neurons at that part, known as the interneuron (red colored,it is in the H shape area). Interneuron passed the signal received from the sensory nerve to another nerve in the H area, but on the different side. Then, the signal will be brought to the main HQ, which is at the brain, to be interpreted as pain. The info received then interpret into feelings, & probably movement of body parts (mouth for cursing, legs & hands to avoid the pain source, heart to beat faster, etc).
(oh,my.. lecture's starting..)

Pain not only came from the outside, but also can be created in body. Stomachache is a good example. It can be created not only because it is not filled with food, but also when the owner is damsel-in-distress.
It this kind of situation, painkillers does not help at all as long as there's is stress. Not many know this kind of situation, & even consumed more & higher doses of painkillers.
At this rate, families' & friends' supports are in need to substitute painkillers.

Roughly to sketch, 'be friend with pain'.

...maybe that's all for now...?

Human.

During a lecture, the lecturer asked us an interesting question,
"What's the different between an animal & a human?"
The students were put into silence. Maybe some of them are thinking, maybe some are blanked out (this one is me).
As for me, the answer spurt out by my lecturer seems interesting.
"Humans, referring to a philosopher, who I forgot his name, are animals which always in questions. They always ask questions."
...
Yeah, he was right. Human have the ability to think, so it is not possible to humans to always wonders what's what, how's how, & the why's.

Then the lecturer asked, "Any questions?"
We were put into silence, again.
"Seems that I'm facing with non-human here, weren't I?"
We just gave a grimace among ourselves.

Psychiatry & Psychology

One day, a doc asked:
"What's the different between psychiatry & psychology?"
We all sat silently because, I guess, we didn't know the answer..
"A!" the docter called.
A gave his answer, & turn out wrong.
"B!"
B gave his answer as well, but same thing happen.
"The difference is, psychiatry is the knowledge of medication, that is why it is learnt by doctors. Psychology is the knowledge hold by sociologist."

So, that's the answer...

Yah, probably some did realise that psychologist more in giving advises & listening, but does not prescribe nor gave medicine like psychiatrist did (If they do, probably not the controlled-typed drugs). That does not mean that psychologist cannot work together with psychiatrist.

deactivate & activating blog

I used to write somethin in friendster's blog - since there's somethin going on at there, so.. i think i just have to stop blogging there, & will try to update this one.

Painful truth, sweet lie..

uhm.. i dunno how this sentence cross my mind while i'm daydreaming..

but i do know a bit from it - yup.. a bit from my not-so challenging-compared-to other's life..

Probably, for youngster, love case might be the first to come up when came across this sentence. Either tell ur lover sweet lie to escape from being brokeup, or tell the truth & face the pain with dignity... *so much for that*

Tiring, but i think, painful truth is much better than sweet lie. Easy for me to say, but it's much difficult for the practice. Not only in love story, so as in everyday job - jobs that involve people services. All customers do expect the best service, & with the service, they deserve to know the detail of the dealings they facing with.. Saying without giving the best out of u could cost lots, & lots of trouble, including the courts dealing, polices, families, lawyers dealing, .. etc.. *this is where ethics, no matter what kind or field, do matter*

back to the love story,.. uh,huh.. With real faces only the relationship can last long - no lies hidden *theoretically*. It's not fantasy - it can be real, but need constant patient & faith.

As-Saf, 3 - Allah swt hates person who only say but not do what does he/she said..

*_* - random writing..so i have not much of ideas..

wonders about couple living together..

I'm no doctor nor visar, but when I came across this article, I was a bit interested in writing something about this..

Here's the article that I meant:

http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/157454.php

The first paragraph does interest me in reading more about the research done by three researcher - Galena Rhoades, Prof Scott Stanley, & Prof Howard MArkman of University of Denver (DU)..

" University of Denver (DU) researchers find that couples who live together before they are engaged have a higher chance of getting divorced than those who wait until they are married to live together, or at least wait until they are engaged. In addition, couples who lived together before engagement and then married, reported a lower satisfaction in their marriages."

It does remind me something - a friend of mine said something like this while commenting on a movie, " Marriage is the gateway of joining 2 family (the husband's & the wife's). NOt to forget, eventhough you did not know anything about your couple, but do believe that you can give a chance to love him (since she's talking to me as a girl, so i use him) in the future."

It is actually not so bad to get to know each other AFTER marriage (not after engaged, because engagement is just like saying that couple is tagged, not tied properly) . From the old folks, they said that the wed-couple is more honest with their couple rather than dating-couple. I dunno how, but I imagine, maybe the wed-couple are more serious toward their relationship if comparing to dating couple (I guess it's up to individuals' goal of life).

About divorce, for me, it's quite a bad news - not to mention the waste of money for the wedding event, the gowns, the rental of the place (materials loss). ALso it's quite time consuming to process the documents, have to go back & forth to straightened things up... Wow, easy to say, it's tiring. Divorce also gave quite an impact for their child, psychologically, not to mention that they have imperfect family comparing to their friends. BUt, do remember, every event that occur, wether it hits like a storm or tsunami, has their meaning behind it, & it brings everyone who involved in the event to evaluate everything from the start.

turn my head down a moment..

I was fooling around when I received a message from a friend of mine..

"Let us give Al-FAtihah to our fellow Palestinian that involved in the war.. This is the minimum that we can do for them.."

I forgot that the war between Israel & Palestine was once again burst - this time the Israel attacking the Palestinian on New Year of Hijriah - that's an insult.. How come the rest can celebrate & pray for peace in New Year, but not for Palestinian..?

I'm not a good critics.. & I do hope for the world to stay in peace - but wish, is just a wish after all.. (it will come true, but in the right time..)

All I can say, let us, muslims give some time to think about our fellow in Palestine, maybe also the other part of the world, & give them Al-Fatihah...

(Only Allah SWT knows exactly what with this world..)

Snake bite

oh my, it's been a while i didn't write here.. (I'm not fond of writing anyway..)

This time, I wish to tell some pranks on Snake Bite (have i wrote this before? or is it DeJaVu..?!)

snake bite at hand
Snake bite on arm

Snake Bite can only happen when a snake bite (of course, silly me!) - but some snakes need not to do so - they might as well spit their venom direct to the prey's eyes, or just attack by wrapped the prey (like phyton (ular sawa) did).

According to what i understand (as a really stupid student), snake venom, depend on their type, has several effects to human

  • Unstoppable bleeding at biting site[normal bleeding for human no matter how big their 'scratch' is around 1-9 minutes (check your doctor for more info)], - the venom either block or activate several components responsible for stopping the bleeding
  • Weak - the venom spread out to whole body using blood system as their transport, then they block signals coming from the 'wiring' (neurons) that connect to muscles in body - specificly, the junction between muscle & end wire (known as neuromuscular junction). Untreated venom can cause paralysis. Even worse, death due to neuron death in brain (really?!)
  • blurred vision - also happen when the venom 'travel' to eye blood vessels - they blocked the signal coming from eye's nerve slowly
  • low blood pressure - lesser pumping force from heart because heart's electricity is also slowly blocked by venom
  • drowsiness

Most of hospital or clinics may have the suitable venom to treat the snake bite patients. If found a 'lucky' person being bitten by a snake & he become unconscious in seconds, don't waste time killing the snake - life saving comes first..

type of snakes from http://brianlean.files.wordpress.com
Types of snakes found / known at least

I really lost a lot of info to write here - i'll try to update this again anytime..

sorry for borrowing the picture without permission. :(

mangkuk, madu, & rambut

Mangkuk yang Cantik, Madu dan Sehelai Rambut

Rasulullah SAW, dengan sahabat-sahabatnya Abakar r.a., Umar r.a., Utsman r.a., dan 'Ali r.a., bertamu ke rumah Ali r.a.

whale

I remember reading news in Utusan Malaysia about a baby whale found lost at Kuala Sungai Menasi, Pekan, Pahang on 13 Oct this year. Never expected such case can happen in Malaysia sea shore - it does happen in several countries though. At first, the animal department (is it? or the fishinary department?) & the fisherman around there managed returning it to the sea. Sadly, it was found again, this time, dead, 2 days later.. T-T. From what I understand, the death was assumed due to injury on its head (maybe it hit big coral somewhere around there when it was returned to the sea), & food indigestion - plastic bottles, ropes was found in it's stomach after undergo 'postmortem surgery'..

I was inform from the news that it was the baby Fin, 10 m long, weighs around 2 tan.

comparing fin whale with human..

I was dragged to write little bit about this animal.

This whale was known to be the 2nd largest after the blue whale (the largest animal ever found). It migrate (like any other whale), & Pasific Ocean was one of the route they take to migrate.

this is how it eats

i'm not the expert of the whale, but i think these sites will give some of this fellow:

Phlegmone a.k.a. Ludwig angina

This time I’m gonna blabber little about mouth

It has a space, filled with lots of components –

· Air- the gases (O2, CO2, & the rest)

· Liquid, - the saliva

· Solids – all the mouth’s main component – teeth, cheek, gum, tongue, palate, even the microbes!

Mature permanent teeth
Mature permanent teeth

These are some of microbes found in our mouth – found especially at teeth, gum, & surrounding:

· Bacterias

Gram (+)

· Streptococcus

· S. mutans

· S. salivarius; S. vestibularis

· S. constellates; S. anginus

· S. mitis; S. sanguis; S. gordonii; S.oralis; S.crista

· Peptococcus anaerobius; Peptococcus micros

· Stomacoccus

· S. mucilagenous

Bacteria that form the plaque on the teeth's or gum's surface.

Even microbes need food (the leftover stuck at between teeth- especially food that rich with sucrose) & shelter (that is the tooth & the environment) to live. IF their food is way much more than enough, then the population will grow, causing more space to be used, & much more waste produce – the ‘waste’of the microbs causing the tooth involve become erode because it is acidic. The acidic waste also killed most of the normal flora, & let the new population (the one which can stand in acidic condition) to grow & dominate.

Condition that need to be fullfill in order to form plaque at the teeth.

The more the tooth were left untreated, the bigger the hole at the tooth, & the bigger the hole, the deeper the microbes can invade the tooth. The invasion will create pus within the area of invasion

At the same time, the tooth itself actually do trying it best to regrow by undergoing the recalcification process (process of building the tooth's structure). Anyway, the decalcification process (process of destroying the tooth's structure) overcome the recalcification process. That is why there's a white chalky thing within the destroid tooth.

Route used by microbes to invade the periapical & pulp
Route used by microbes to invade the periapical & pulp

To makes things worse, the pus may spread into the jaw's environment (depend on which tooth was invaded). The outspread invasion occurs when one's teeth hygienes is really bad (either he/she cannot afford to buy a toothpaste, or really is a 24 hrs-sugar eater).

At this rate, the person might show up with thick skin & bloated, red, painful cheek & to wider spread - neck. The spit fluid difficult to be swallowed because the neck is painful when swallowing - so the spit end up drooling out of mouth. These signs show the phlegmone a.k.a Ludwig Angina. The worst outcome of phlegmone is death due to breathing difficulty (since the neck part were badly inflammed, & cause lots of fluid formed, & accumulate at airway part (at neck)).

little bit on cleft palate

for me, it is a miracle - single cell become double, double become quadruplet, & so forth.. Then, the cells will transform themself according to the signal they received from the place they gather, into somepart that we have by now.. but if the signal is different signal, they will produce different 'product' - & depend - wether this product does not really bother the rest, or it is really troublesome for the life..

I'm blabbering about mouth-nose part - these part were form from pharyngeal arches (1st & 2nd part).. (I know this statement is incorrect, help yourself by finding the fact about cleft palate in Ear-Nose-Throat problem :p)

(reader: what a lazy, lame writer!)

cleft palate - type
Patients with clefts: (A) incomplete unilateral cleft of the lip, (B) unilateral cleft of the lip, alveolus, and palate, (C) bilateral cleft of the lip, alveolus, and palate, (D) isolated (median) cleft palate.

Cleft palate - problem with nose & mouth's ceiling (palate) formation.

This kind of malformation might disturbing - food (especially fluid type) might enter the wrong place, causing problem with the nose part. (eventhough nose & mouth actually share in a same tunnel at first, called pharynx) but will separate again - larynx for breathing, & esophagus for eating & drinking. Also, it might be disturbing for speech - especially the type where the palate is totally or partially not form..
but not to worry, the earlier it is detected, the better it can be handled to repair to normal condition. (but that does not mean if it is in children or adult, it cannot be repaired - it still can, but the process of the bone to reform will take longer - is it?)

How does it happen? It can be from many causes; the real how-it-happen is still in research. But for now, it can be started with the mum's pregnancy - maybe she consumes drugs (antibiotics, anti emetic (anti-vomiting)) or goes unhealthy diets (hunger...). Drugs or any substances that can cause baby in imperfect physically is called 'teratogen'.

skin & microbes

What would I'll be babbling this time...?

Still small bit of skin - some, but not all know that our skin also has it's own living thing - I might guess those who read this will first think out lices, mites >.almost correct, but not these giants - they are smaller. They take care of our skin in their own ways.

Without them, our skin could having problem being attacked by other 'invaders'.

Also, if their population is overload could also bring to problem - they invade us instead, causing fever, or worst, death (yes, I mean it - doctors will called it as 'shock' due to a bacteria colony called "Staphylococcus aureus".. ( reader: is this fact has something wrong with the content?! ). Easy example is acne - it is found out that a colony called Propionibacterium acne contribute to acne formation. Acne actually created from white head pimple.

In normal skin (including palm (tapak tangan), soles (tapak kaki), & scalp (kepala)), there'sStaphylococcus epidermidis, Propionibacterium, Peptococcus, & even yeast called Candida albican(actually there's several of them, but I guess lots of website can inform better). They have different living area - some really on the surface, some even in the skin.

Before that, colony here is equal to race in human being. While human has many kinds of races, so do microbs.

too little on carcinoma...?

uah... now comes to case on carcinoma. There are specific part of body, with specific environment, will 'nourish' the cancer cell to grow. How?
Cell growth actually has it's limit. When the cell is not in perfect condition, the cell itself will burst itself with the command from it's inner self (the nucleus). If the inner self was destroid/modified/imperfect, the cell cannot kill itself, & has to go on. It will contribute to make more imperfect cells, causing the structure seen with naked eye become imperfect (either there's a lump, blackened,..).

will continue later. Kinda tired..

skin

It's been a while I'm out of ideas what to write.

Didn't realise that skin is actually the biggest organ in human body. It can protect from 'enemies' as small as the virus to as big as an elephant(>.uhm, not only that the skin itself is the physical barrier, it also has it's own soldier (known as Langerhan cells), & soldier in disguise (the keratinocyte, which made out our skin also make a substance that involve in skin protection) (hah?!)

But the skin has it's limit.. It cannot hold on (like iron man or superman) external injuries that will kill the cells of skin, such as fire.. This is where burn injury comes in. Just like burning the paper, skin will also become black! But skin has it's own programme to regenerate. It's not an easy job, though - first it has to recruit all unit of developer & not all developer can attend at the same time. Some need to be call using 2nd messenger, some need to undergo severel procedure, ... Those who arrive first will gather themself & done their work - 'piling', 'knitting', 'building the pillar', 'make the cement', 'stack the bricks'. Depend on the depth & area of damage, it takes time to complete the temporary skin. If the damage area are not so deep, the skin cells will able to make a new skin & replace the area like nothing is happen. But if the area was quite large, & really deep & heavy damage, the skin cell still replace it but the effect is still there.. we know it as 'scar'..

fall... rise...?

fall...
when this one mention, the first thing in my crazy mind at this time is love (cinta).. cinta monyet, jatuh cinta (fall in love), cinta sejati, & so forth.. this word can never be escape in our life (that' s for sure). I realise that I am not really good in this thing - proof? i almost make my mum miserable, make my life miserable, never trust even my closest friend, envy everyone around me, ... I remember something from my guru sayings - Love actually make the person involve to become a better persons, because they share & make the dream become true together.. take for example our own parent & we as their child. The parent love their child to have better life than theirs, so they sent their child to school (or maybe some even take some of their free time to teach their child) to learn about world around them..
what else about fall..
ah, failures! I felt very painful when this word come to exist in my life.. I also become so scared.. I become really afraid to return home if I brought this word with me.. (i guess that's some of the reason of suicide cases)

Rise..
Sun rise in the east? (ha, ha)
All for the money, la,la,la ....All rise (Blue - All Rise) :p
